What this tool does
Compress an image to a target KB or MB upper limit in your browser. JPEG output reduces file size by changing encoding quality; pixel dimensions stay unchanged unless you allow smaller dimensions. Transparent areas are flattened onto white.
When to use it
Use this tool for an upload with a file-size ceiling, such as 200 KB, 500 KB or 1 MB. Choose a target permitted by the destination and inspect the downloaded image for readable text and acceptable detail.

How precisely can I set the size?
The target is an upper limit, not an exact byte count. An output is offered only when it meets the limit. KB means 1024 bytes and MB means 1024² bytes; check whether the destination uses the same units.
Will processing change image quality?
JPEG compression is lossy. Lower quality can reduce text clarity and fine detail. JPEG output uses a white background for transparent areas.

Input formats: JPEG, PNG, WebP (still images only). Output formats: JPEG. Animated images are not supported. Please choose a still image.
Why might processing fail?
Very small targets may be impossible at the original dimensions. Increase the target or enable smaller dimensions. JPEG compression is lossy; review the result before uploading it. This image is damaged or could not be decoded. Choose a non-empty image no larger than 20 MB.
